Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: July 22-July 28

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of July 29, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

July 22

A vehicle driven by a 59-year-old Ellington woman and a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Manchester man were both traveling westbound on Windsorville Road in Ellington, with the woman behind the man. The man, driving a tractor trailer unit, stopped and began backing up when he realized he had missed his turn on to Abbott Road. He failed to see the woman behind his trailer and backed into her vehicle. There were no injuries reported in this accident.

A vehicle driven by a 50-year-old Somers man was traveling southbound on Route 186 (Hall Hill Road) approximately 156 feet south of Lamson Road in Somers. The vehicle entered onto the soft shoulder of the southbound lane and collided with a utility pole. The vehicle then continued soutbound on Route 186 for approximately three tenths of a mile where the man then turned right onto Royal Manor prior to coming to a controlled stop. The man then reversed direction and traveled northbound on Route 186 for approximately a mile, where the vehicle then entered into the intersection with Watchaug Road and Four Bridges Road. The vehicle then entered onto the soft shoulder area of Four Bridges Road at Watchaug Road, where it came to a controlled final rest position. The mam was transported to via to Johnson Memorial Hospital for further evaluation after complaining of back and neck pains sustained was a result of the collision. He was later released. 

July 26

Richard J. Rice, 42, was transported from to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Rice was placed under arrest for possession of a weapon in a correctional facility and threatening. Rice was processed and held on a $50,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court. 

July 28

A woman on Battle Street in Somers has stated that her granddaughter stole items from her apartment, including medication, cigarettes and some blank checks from her check book. The case is still under investigation. 

Corey R. Mordasky, 25, of 153 Hydeville Rd. in Stafford Springs, has been charged with first degree criminal trespass and second degree breach of peace after troopers were dispatched to a residence on Pinney Street in Ellington for an active disturbance. Upon arrival, probable cause was developed for the arrest of Mordasky. Mordasky was issued a $1,000 non-surety bond.
