Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Jan. 6-Jan. 12

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Jan. 13, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Jan. 6

Matthew D. Deveau, 30, of 7 Lindell Dr. in Somers, was traveling eastbound on Billings Road, approximately three tenths of a mile west of Ninth District Road, in Somers. He entered the soft shoulder of the eastbound travel lane and collided with a utility pole located on the shoulder of the highway. Deveau stated that he was wearing a safety belt at the time of the collision and reported no injuries at the scene. An investigation into the resulting cause or causes of this collision led to the on site, in-custody arrest of Deveau for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and failure to maintain lane. Deveau was released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond.

A 43-year-old Broad Brook man was traveling eastbound on Windsorville Road at the intersection of Pinney Road in Ellington on a motorcycle. The man lost control which resulted in a collision. The man was transported to St. Francis Hospital via for possible injuries. The motorcycle was towed by .

Matthew W. Mierez, 24, of 2 Foxhill Dr. in Vernon, was stopped on Main Street in Ellington for motor vehicle charges and was found to be operating with a suspended license. He was taken into custody for those charges and released later that evening on a $1,500 surety bond. 

Travis R. Bourbeau, 24, of 53 Crystal Lake Rd. in Ellington, was arrested for an outstanding warrant being held out of Troop C. This warrant stems from an investigation where Bourbeau was breaking into campground recreation rooms around the surrounding area and removing change from the change compartments of arcade games. Bourbeau was charged with third degree burglary, third degree criminal mischief, and fifth degree larceny. He was processed without incident and is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on Jan. 25. 

Jan. 10

Between Dec. 16, 2011 and Dec. 23, 2011, a larceny occurred on Field Road in Somers. Several roofing materials were taken. No injuries were reported.

Cory Wheeler, 18, of 653 Main St. in Somers, was transported from Hartford Correctional Center to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant for could be served. Wheeler was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued for sixth degree larceny. He was processed and held on a $1,500 cash only bond set by the court. Wheeler was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.

Jan. 11

Philip M. Szabo, 19, of 79 Pond Cir. in Somers, was transported from Hartford Correctional Center to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Szabo was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued for theft of a firearm, third degree burglary, and fourth degree larceny. He was processed and held on a $20,000 bond set by the court. Szabo was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.

Eugene Flemming, 54, of 93 Maple St. in Somers, was served with a restraining order issued by the court in Rockville. He was observed by the victim at a residence on Maple Street after being in violation of the order. Flemming was located at the residence by troopers and was arrested for violation of a restraining order. He was held on a $10,000 bond for presentment at Rockville Superior Court on Jan. 12.
