Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Jan. 13-Jan. 19

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Jan. 20, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Jan. 4

Cory Wheeler, 18, of 653 Main St. in Somers, was arrested at Rockville Superior Court. Wheeler had been presented at Rockville Superior court on a habeaus from Hartford Correctional Center. Wheeler was processed according to policy and charged with third degree burglary and sixth degree larceny for an incident that happened at the in May. Wheeler was held in lieu of an $8,500 court set bond.

Jan. 16

Troopers were dispatched to on an assault complaint between two inmates. Inmate no. 1 reported that he had been physically assaulted by inmate no. 2 with his fist. Subsequent investigation revealed that there was no probable cause to believe that an assault took place. No witnesses present, no surveillance, and no visible marks or bruising identified.

A trooper saw a vehicle off the roadway on Route 190 in Somers. Subsequent investigation revealed that the operator, a 71-year-old Enfield woman, had lost control of her vehicle and slid off of Route 190, colliding into an illumination pole belonging to a commercial building. No injuries were reported. The woman was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.  

A 69-year-old Somers man was traveling north on Michele Drive in Somers when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. There were no injuries in this one-car accident, and the vehicle was driven from the scene by the man. The man was issued a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.  

Jan. 17

A 23-year-old Enfield woman was traveling eastbound in the rotary in Ellington. A 24-year-old Ellington woman entered the rotary from Windsorville Road and struck the Enfield woman on the right front bumper. No injuries were reported. The Ellington woman was issued an infraction for failure to grant the right of way at a rotary.  

Jan. 19

A 48-year-old Somers woman was traveling east on Route 190 in Somers when she lost control, travelled across the roadway, and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported from her or her 15-year-old passenger.  

Two juveniles were arrested at for possession of narcotics. They were charged with possession of <4 oz. of marijuana.
