Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Dec. 30-Jan. 5

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Jan. 6, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Dec. 2

Sarah A. Pellegrino, 45, of 125 Main St. in Somers, turned herself in at Troop C for an active arrest warrant for the charges of first degree identity theft and insurance fraud. Her bond was $50,000.

Dec. 31

Mary A. Whitten, 70, of 165 South St. Apt. 32 in Vernon, was arrested for disorderly conduct and third degree assault after state police responded to a domestic disturbance a residence on Webster Road in Ellington. Based on the investigation, Whitten was arrested and transported to Troop C where she was processed and later released on a non-surety bond with a court date.

Daniel W. Barrett, 36, of 31 Day Ave. in East Longmeadow, MA, was arrested after a trooper, while performing a general patrol in Somers, conducted a traffic stop on Route 190 at Bailey Lane for observed motor vehicle violations. The vehicle was being operated by Barrett. The performed traffic stop subsequently led to the in-custody arrest of Barrett for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to maintain proper lane. He was held on a $500 cash-surety bond.

Jan. 1

The , in conjunction with the Vernon Police Department, is currently investigating a series of burglaries into motor vehicles in the 5 Corners area of Ellington and Vernon. Anyone with information is asked to contact state trooper Jacob Bissaillon at the Ellington Resident State Trooper’s Office at 860-875-1522.

State police are investigating an untimely death at a home on Hotel Lake Road in Ellington. Police say that there is nothing suspicious about the death and that it appears to be from natural causes.

On Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at approximately 11:57 p.m., Troop C received a 911 call reporting coming from the , located at 599 Main St. in Somers. State police and fire personnel responded to the church. The local fire marshal was on scene and requested the state fire marshal’s office to respond. The state fire marshal then requested the state police to respond. The case is under investigation.

Jan. 2

Cory Wheeler, 18, of 653 Main St. in Somers, was arrested after he became involved in a verbal domestic with his mother and started yelling and kicking things throughout the home. He was charged with disorderly conduct.  

Eric P. Brewer, 25, of 136 Grove St. in Windsor Locks, was arrested at the Windsor Locks Police Department by a state trooper for an outstanding warrant being held for him. Brewer was arrested for an incident that occurred on Dec. 3, 2011 in Somers and was charged with fourth degree larceny.
