Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Dec. 23-Dec. 29

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Dec. 30, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Dec. 23

At approximately 7:30 a.m., troopers from Troop C were dispatched to the located at 641 Main St. in Somers on a reported attempted burglary. Subsequent investigation revealed that the entry was attempted through the rear service door using miscellaneous tools. The door was heavily damaged as a result. This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Troop C in Tolland at 860-896-3200. 

Dec. 24

At approximately 9:19 a.m., troopers were dispatched to 24 Battle St. in Somers on a criminal mischief complaint. Subsequent investigation revealed that a person or persons had forced their way into the elevator control room of the office building and stayed in the room for an unknown amount of time, causing minor damage to the doorframe. Open food wrappers were discovered. This case is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Troop C in Tolland at 860-896-3200. 

Dec. 26

At 11:40 p.m., a vehicle was traveling northbound along Route 83 in Ellington. At the intersection with Route 286, the vehicle veered left across the roadway and traveled off a retaining wall located at the gas station. The vehicle then proceeded to flee the scene and was later tracked by fluid left on the roadway into the town of Enfield along Route 191. Video surveillance revealed the vehicle to be a white coupe with fog lights, sunroof, and possibly a spoiler. The vehicle appeared to be an Acura Integra, however, the vehicle was not positively identified. The vehicle incurred heavy lower front end damage in the collision, possibly rupturing the radiator. Dec. 28

A Somers woman was traveling eastbound on Four Bridges Road in Somers. Leah Dobosz, 23, of 63 Maple Ridge Dr. in Somers, was traveling eastbound on Four Bridges Road behind the other woman. Dobosz rear ended the woman, causing heavy damage to both vehicles. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The Somers woman was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital by for complaint of pain. Dobosz was charged with DUI, following to close, and traveling too fast. 

Sometime between Friday, Dec. 23 and Wednesday, Dec. 28, lawn equipment was stolen off a property on Somers Road in Ellington. This case is open and is under investigation. 

Tyler Stanton, 19, of 80 Newhouse St. in Springfield, was arrested after state police responded to a report of a suspicious motor vehicle on Scully Road in Somers. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located at the described location. Upon interviewing the occupants, the operator, Stanton, was given the standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. Stanton was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was released on a $500 cash bond.
