Ellington Man Goes to Police Station to Retrieve Property, Gets Arrested on Burglary Charge

Police said the suspect was wanted in connection to a burglary of a Manchester business.

Ellington resident Leonard Blazys came to the Troop C barracks in Tolland this week to pick up some personal property from a separate criminal case.

But, as it turns out, Blazys himself was wanted in connection to another criminal case.

The state police trooper who met with Blazys on Nov. 6 asked that the man provide his photo ID so that he could determine that Blazys wasn't wanted on anything and that his license was valid, according to a police press release.

After the dispatcher ran the license through their police database, the trooper discovered that Blazys, 36, was actually wanted on two separate warrants, one of which stemmed from a burglary of Electrical Systems Corporation in Manchester earlier this year, police said.

Blazys, of 78 Pinnacle Road in Ellington, was then taken into custody on the following charges: third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespassing, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny, possessing burglary's tools, disobeying the signal of an officer, reckless driving and having an illegible license plate.

He posted two separate bonds, one $30,000 and the other $25,000, and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 20.
