Ellington Firemen's Parade Highlights the Annual Carnival

In addition to trucks from Ellington, Crystal Lake, and Somers, Vernon's new vehicles and a Tolland ambulance added to the procession.

The annual firemen's parade always seems to be the highlight of the annual carnival put on by the .

Ellington was there on Saturday, of course, and so was .

Vernon came from one of the town's borders and from another. Tolland, Stafford, South Windsor - and departments from all over the state - also came by.

There were bagpipes, the marching band, and a fife and drum corp. Also marching were the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts as clowns tossed candy to the kids along the parade route.

The carnival itself featured the traditional cake booth, bands, rides, and a lot of other fine fair fare.

One unwanted visitor came to  at about 8 p.m. on Saturday when lighting began to flash and a few drops of rain fell. Then, the skies opened up, sending the crowds to their cars early.
