Fire Breaks Out at Meadowbrook Apartment in Ellington

An official said Ellington firefighters have contained the fire to one unit.

Ellington firefighters responded late Monday to a fire that broke out at the Meadowbrook Apartments.

Crews responded to the 51 Meadowbrook Road complex just before 10 p.m., according to initial reports

In a brief interview around 10:30 p.m., Ellington Fire Chief Michael Varney said that the fire had been contained to one apartment unit and that crews were still on scene.

Varney said no one was injured. He said it is not certain the extent of the damage, as crews are expected to be there for at least an hour longer.

Varney said his department had requested mutual aid from surrounding departments, however that was called off after the Ellington responders had contained the fire.
