Ellington Convenience Store Robbed at Gunpoint

The Ali Food Mart robbery happened early Sunday and police are looking for the public's help in finding the suspect.

The Ali Food Mart on Route 83 in Ellington was robbed over the weekend.

Just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, police got a call from the owner of the 83 West Road business, also known as the Road Runner Mart, saying the store was robbed by a lone male brandishing a gun.

The suspect demanded cash at gunpoint and left on foot with an undisclosed amount. Police immediately responded and employed a K-9 unit to assist in the search but the suspect was not found.

According to police, the suspect is a white male, dressed in a black hooded sweat shirt, black pants and a white cloth covering his face. He is approximately 5 ft. 8-10 inches tall weighing approximately 170-190 lbs. Police said he carried a "large black handgun."

Eastern District Major Crimes Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.
