Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: April 7 - April 14

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of April 15, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions. It is not the policy of Ellington-Somers Patch to omit any misdemeanors

April 8

Robert J. Dunn, 20, of 54 Front Crane Rd., Ellington, was charged with failure to have tail lamps illuminated and having weapons in his vehicle. His vehicle was observed traveling southbound on Route 83 with its right rear taillight not illuminated. Upon making contact with Dunn, the officer obtained consent and searched the vehicle. During the search, one air soft type (pellet) handgun was located concealed under the right hide-away seat of the vehicle and one black pellet type handgun was found under the opposite hide-away seat. Dunn was charged not for possessing the guns – he was of legal age to own the guns and did not require a permit/license – but for the manner in which he was transporting them. In an unrelated incident on April 10, Dunn was on Somers Road (Route 83) in Ellington.

Paul Cormier, 59, of 791 Main St., Somers, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and numerous other motor vehicle charges. He was observed traveling with non-functioning brake lights as officers were conducting motor vehicle enforcement in the area of Turnpike and Scully roads in Somers. A motor vehicle check revealed the registration was suspended due to no insurance. The officer then conducted a motor vehicle stop. The operator was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to renew the registration, failure to maintain minimum insurance requirements and failure to have stop lamps/turn signals.

April 9

Remington J. Ewald, 19, of 55 School St., Vernon, was charged with operating of a motor vehicle by a minor having an elevated blood alcohol content. State police responded to a disabled vehicle on Bancroft Road in Ellington, called in by a local resident, and discovered the operator to be under the influence of alcohol. This operator was subsequently placed under arrest.

April 10

Amy E. Gineo, 42, of 17 Woodland St. Apt. A Ct, Vernon, turned herself in at Troop C for an arrest warrant that was issued after an investigation of a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on West Road in Ellington.

April 13

An unidentified inmate at assaulted a corrections officer. The officer had no visible injuries, only minor shoulder pain. The accused had no injuries and was restrained by other correctional officers. No medical attention was required.

April 14

Debbie T. Dziadul, 47, of 5 Taylor Ct., Enfield, was charged with interfering with an officer after Somers police investigated a motor vehicle accident on Rte. 190 (Main Street) near Shaker Road. Dziadul was a passenger in one of the vehicles and provided false information to police, stating that she was the operator of one of the vehicles. The actual operator of the vehicle, Ronald Dziadul, 49, of 5 Taylor Ct., Enfield, a relative of Debbie T. Dziadul, was subsequently was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police also found Ronald Dziadul at fault for the accident and charged him with interfering with police.
