Bicyclist Struck by an SUV in Somers

The bicyclist, a Massachusetts resident, is listed in critical condition.

A woman remains in critical condition after being struck by an SUV on Saturday while biking on Stafford Road in Somers.

State police said 57-year-old Paula Framarin, of East Longmeadow, Mass., was riding her bicycle on Stafford Road two-tenths of a mile east of the Route 83 intersection when, just before 2:30 p.m., she was struck from behind by a 2005 GMC Envoy.

Emergency responders airlifted Framarin via a Life Star helicopter to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. She suffered serious injuries and her condition is listed as critical, state police said.

Police said the driver of the Envoy was Matthew Meade, of Hampden, Mass. The case is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
