Almost Through the Journey

With one week to go, it's time to try to relax and just wait for her arrival.

One week to go. We're really almost there.

When we went to the doctor this week, they determined that the baby is still head down but that she’s a little crooked – she’s laying just a little bit off to the left.

They think that she is little and that I have a lot of fluid so she still has a little room to wiggle. Because of this unstable lie, they’re going to induce me later this week.

The doctor believes that labor will push her into the right position so it’s not a concern if I go into labor on my own – or when they induce me.

They’re going to check her before they induce me – just to be sure – but they figure that she’ll stay where she is and move like she’s supposed to.

The doctor also decided that she’s probably sitting Indian style. This would explain why I still haven’t been getting hit in the ribs. I figured as soon as she flipped, I would be getting hit all the time. But because her legs are crossed, she’s still staying away from my ribs. Every once in a while, her whole leg will go over my ribs. My guess is that she can’t get her leg under my rib so it goes over.

As soon as she straightens her legs out, I’m in trouble.

For the last week, I’ve been having little contractions but nothing major. So we’ll have to see if she waits or comes out on her own. She seems like she’s going to be a stubborn little one so I wouldn’t be surprised if she tries to come out on her own.

Everything is ready to go either way.

It blows my mind a little bit that at this time next week, I’ll be a mom. I can’t wait though.

Everyone keeps telling me to relax and enjoy these last few quiet days while I can. I’m having a hard time doing that though. I’m still busy cleaning and preparing and trying to get everything squared away for work.

It’s just not really in my nature to sit and relax. I’m someone who’s always on the go, always keeping busy, and always throwing myself into whatever I’m doing 100 percent.

I might try to pamper myself a little bit before she comes. I was thinking about maybe getting a massage and getting a manicure and pedicure. I normally do my own nails but I might take this time to go get them done and take a few minutes to relax and enjoy it.

My husband and I went out to dinner and a movie the other night in our last date night for a long time. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of willing babysitters, but it will probably still be a while before we go out for a date night.

There really isn’t much to do now except wait. So wait we will do and enjoy the last few days as a couple – before we’re officially known as a “family.”

Here's one vote for the pampering! Get the massage at least. You'll thank yourself for that self-care afterwards.
