Wreaths Across America

The Ellington Patriotic Committee will be participating in the Wreaths Across America Program, which honors eterans at over 500 participating locations nationwide, including Arlington National Cemetery. The event will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 12:00noon at the Veterans' Memorial in Ellington Center Cemetery.

Seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed to remember all those who served in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.  The ceremony will be coordinated simultaneously at 500 locations in all 50 states across the country. A ceremonial wreath will also be placed at the POW/MIA Monument adjacent to the library. Additional wreaths will be placed at the War Monuments on the Town Green, at the Veteran's Memorial Park in the Crystal Lake section of Town and the D.A.R. Chapter will sponsor a wreath for the small cemetery adjacent to the entrance to the library.

It is the Committee's intent to promote sponsorship of wreaths by civic groups
