Somers Historical Museum Open

The Somers Historical Society Museum will be open Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Special guest will be Wendy Peterson. Ms. Peterson will have a book for sale about Nancy Sikes Porter and her husband Reverand Rollin Porter.  Reverand Rollin Porter taught in Somersville and was ordained in Somers. This book is presented and signed by Mildred Dimock.  "Letters from Nancy to her Dear Mother" is the title of this missionary tale from the 1850's.

The history exhibits at the Somers Museum reflect the history of it's residents and the many items collected.  Through the efforts of many society members, the items are cataloged and displayed. The History of Somers is not lost in the 'mists of time' or musty basements of old houses.  It is available for everone to see at the Somers Historical Museum.
