Scantic River Watershed Association Meeting

The general public and the members of the Scantic Watershed Association are invited to the 8th Annual Meeting of the Scantic River Watershed Association on Sunday Oct. 16 at the at 6 p.m. 

The guest speaker this year will be Dr. Kirsten Martin who will present the 2010-2011 State of the Scantic report. The report will cover the results of the year long water monitoring program.

Martin holds a Phd. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England, a MS degree from Southern Oregon University, and a BS in wildlife management from the University of New Hampshire. She is an avid dragonfly and aquatic insect enthusiast, and spends countless hours exploring the ponds, rivers, and streams of New England.

In addition to her aquatic work, Martin is a visiting professor at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford.

Rex Joffray, President of the SRWA will give an update on the Scantic River Greenway project for the new non-motorized multiuse trails along the Scantic River.

Mike Dynia, Chairman of the SRWA will lead an update on the 2011 Stream walk. All 2011 Stream walk participants are encouraged to attend.

Come out for an update on what is happening in your watershed.

A free pot luck dessert buffet will be served along with various beverages.
