Donate to This Ellington Resident’s MS Walk, Get a Gift Box

Lois Lomme is participating in an MS challenge walk in 2014, and will be giving out hand-crafted gift boxes for every $3 raised.

Ellington resident Lois Lomme has been living with Multiple Sclerosis in her legs for the past 10 years.

But she is not letting that stop her from participating in the MS Challenge Walk 2014 in Cape Cod, Mass.

“It’s this reason that I feel even more compelled to walk myself and for those who can’t,” Lomme said in an email to Patch.

The event is a 50-mile walk over the course of three days. To participant, each walker needs to raise $1,500.

So, ahead of the holidays, Lomme has employed a creative way to solicit donations from family, friends and community members: handcrafted gift boxes.

“I am giving a hand crafted gift box for every $3 donation,” Lomme said. “These boxes are covered with a collage generated from whimsical and artistic images from pictures in magazines. The boxes are suited for gift cards, pieces of jewelry or any number of gifts.”

Lomme will be at the Ellington Farmers Markets, or if you are interested in donating to her cause, email Inside.The.Box.4MS@gmail.com.
