They Called Me Lizzie: From Slavery to the White House

Join us for this very special one-woman show depicting the

life story of Elizabeth (Lizzy) Keckly. Born into slavery in 1818, Keckly

eventually managed to purchase her freedom. She made her way to Washington

D.C., where her dressmaking skills and entrepreneurial savvy brought her to the

attention of many political families. She was best known as dressmaker to Mary

Todd Lincoln. Written and produced by Kandie Carle, “The Victorian Lady”, the

show stars actress Stephanie Jackson.
