Hundreds to take the plunge for Special Olympics Connecticut
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A Special Olympics Connecticut wintertime tradition continues with the 2013 Ellington Penguin Plunge. Join many cool friends with warm hearts in supporting Special Olympics athletes by making a splash at this year’s Penguin Plunge which will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at Sandy Beach in Ellington. Check-in will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the plunge set to take place at noon. Local event sponsors and new plungers are being sought. Register online at http://www.soct.org/plunges/, or contact Marc Mercadante 860-887-1555 or firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a registration packet.
The Ellington Penguin Plunge is one of ten Plunges for Special Olympics Connecticut that are scheduled to happen across the state this year, giving many the chance to jump into the chilly water in bathing suits, team jerseys or creative costumes for a good cause. Individual and team participants will be thanked with incentive prizes and awards for their fundraising efforts, and will enjoy the camaraderie and excitement the event promises with their friends, family and coworkers. Funds raised give Special Olympics Connecticut the means to provide sports training and competitions for thousands of athletes, all year long. Last year, 165 local penguins plunged and raised $35,000. Come out and join the fun.
