The CHSCA announced its All-State Football team on Thursday and Ellington-Somers Knights linebacker Sean Tynan was selected to the first team defense.

Tynan is in his third season with the Knights having played offensive guard and middle linebacker.

The Pequot Conference named Tynan All-Conference at the guard position, while nominating him for consideration as All-State Linebacker. Tynan produced 135 tackles at that position and was selected for the All-State squad based on this high level of productivity.

The Knights, boasting the number one defense in class M advanced to the state tournament for the second consecutive season, a first for Ellington-Somers, losing in the quarterfinals to Weston High School. This season also saw an end to the Knights states longest winning streak which ended at 22 consecutive games, a streak that garnered the Knights the 2011 Pequot conference Championship and a second place conference finish this season.

Tynan, a senior at Somers High School is also a standout lacrosse player for Somers High School, which advanced to the class S state finals in 2012 before eventually falling to state champion Joel Barlow.

Tynan was also a member of the Somers State Champion Wrestling Team in 2010.
