Somers Democrats are proud to announce the endorsement for re-election of Ann Logan to run for her 8th term as Town Clerk. Ann has been a resident of Somers for 32 years. Ann was actively involved in school functions and an active participant and volunteer for Somers La Crosse Association. She served as Assistant Town Clerk for thirteen years, and developed a deep understanding of Town Hall job functions, their integral needs for steerage in government regulations, as well as an understanding of the position of Town Clerk.

As Town Clerk, she has streamlined operations and provided online access to various records.  These include an on-line dog license tracking and notification system, on-line searchable land records system, computerized land recording with immediate upload, and an in-house scanning of documents. Ann has written grants and secured $30,000 for the Town Clerk’s office. These grants have allowed for the preservation and restoration of all land records and vital records.

Ann, on a team with Town Hall employees, has been responsible for the development of the website SomersCT.gov., and Somers Facebook page. During storm Sandy, Ann was the communication liaison to the community. She also serves on CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) and worked diligently and relentlessly during Storm Sandy to aid Lisa Pellegrini and Kathy Devlin at the Emergency Operations Center to meet the needs of the community. Most recently  she acquired the role of Veterans’ Affairs Liaison for the Town of  Somers

In 2007, Ann began an initiative to bring the Town into compliance with Document Retention requirements. This system required the Town Clerk to set a schedule for cleaning out records, determine by topic and sensitivity the length of retention, prioritizing by category the classifications of documents and the differentiation to all departments. Ann set up shredding and track schedules for each department for compliance. The result is a process that preserves the Town of Somers’ rights to apply for grants due to meeting compliance standards that would have otherwise been impeded.

In 2001, the Board of Selectmen approached Ann to become the Freedom of Information Officer for the Town, based on her comprehensive understanding of the regulations. In this role, she monitors the activities between various boards and commissions, and applies regulatory needs and operating techniques so the commissioners and board members adhere to the rigid, necessary rules associated with timely submission of minutes, appropriate communications, and behaviors that support the access of the electorate to public information.  Her expert role has given her the unofficial title “FOI Cop."

A vote for Ann Logan is a vote of confidence in her demonstrated ability to serve the Town of Somers and protect its valuable resources. Ann is known to be proficient, reliable, very knowledgeable, and professional.
