Dinosaur State Park celebrates 45 years of prehistoric memories.
Parents and children got the opportunity to have fun and learn about prehistoric creatures Saturday at .
The event, which is hosted by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and , marks the 45th anniversary of the discovery of dinosaur tracks in Rocky Hill. In 1966, a bulldozer operator discovered the footprints of about 2,000 Jurassic era dinosaurs, according to the release.
Families enjoyed mining for dinosaur fossils, making footprint casts and walking guided natures trails. The event also featured music, arts and crafts and games.

There were 600 footprints on display, live animal demonstrations, exhibits, science films and discussions.
