Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

Storytime, music, airplanes, cooking, and skiing — pick and choose from this week’s array of events.

 Chase the Chills Chili PJ Storytime

Where/When: Tolland Public Library from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17.

Why Go: The chills of February will be chased away with some tropical stories, accompanied by real chili and cheese (mild, not too hot!). The event is for children ages 2 and up. Children are welcome to come in their pajamas and to bring a favorite stuffed toy.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Lutz Children's Museum, Manchester from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17.

Why Go: Children ages 5-10 will learn how composers have depicted winter in their music during this program. No knowledge of instruments or music writing is required!

Pricing: The cost is $13 for members and $15 for non-members.

• Open Cockpit Sunday                                         

Where/When: New England Air Museum, Windsor Locks from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20.

Why Go: Visitors will be permitted to climb into the cockpits of up to 12 vintage aircraft, a full-motion flight simulator and two static flight simulators.

Pricing: The open cockpit event is free with admission to the museum. Admission is $10 for adults (ages 12 and over), $9 for seniors (65 and over), $6 for children (ages 4-11), and children ages 3 and under are free. 

Kids Vacation Camp 

Where/When: What's Cooking D, East Longmeadow, Mass., from 9 a.m. until noon on from Feb. 21 until Feb. 25.

Why Go: There are all new recipes for the kids to learn and they will have some fun too! The days you come are your choice and there will be a different menu each day.

Pricing: The cost is $50 per day or grab a friend and register together for $35 each.

• Ski Simulator                      

Where/When: Connecticut Science Center in Hartford beginning on Feb. 21.

Why Go: This is a new exhibit that is opening. Test your ability to withstand gravity, friction and inertia while virtually speeding through the slopes on a pair of skis. See if you can master the forces of nature in this inventive alpine ski adventure.

Pricing: General admission to the center is $17 for adults, $15.50 for seniors (age 65 and over), $14 for youths (ages 3-14), members and children age 2 and under are free.
