"She did leave home. She was with a friend and is OK," Gagne said.

The news was announced at a press conference that was originally billed as the first time the parents would make a statement. As soon as Gagne announced the news, screams of joy erupted from friends and Rev. Lee Ireland of Orange Congregational Church, where the conference took place. Ireland embraced Stuart King, son of the church's pastor.

"Glory. Hallelujah," Rev. Tod King of Orange Congregational Church said. Moments earlier, he had rung the church bell to celebrate a happy ending to what has been a trying time.
