Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for Friday Afternoon

Thunderstorms are expected to roll into the area around 4 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Ellington and Somers area beginning a little after 3 p.m. on Friday.

Thunderstorms and scattered showers are expected to roll into the area this afternoon and evening. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect from 4:17 p.m. until 9 p.m. today. 

There is a 40 percent chance of precipitation this afternoon with winds around eight miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The risk of showers and thunderstorms rises to about 60 percent Friday evening, mainly between 10 p.m. and midnight. Those storms are expected to produce gusty winds, heavy rain and lighting, according to the National Weather Service.
