According to Images of America: Ellington, from the Ellington Historical Society:

"In the early 1900s, a trolley ran from Hartford to Springfield by way of Manchester, Rockville, Ellington, and Warehouse Point. The Rockville branch opened to the public on May 20, 1906. Fares were 5 cents per zone. From West Street in Rockville, the line ran along Route 83, where it turned west onto Main Street at the present Kloter Farms. The last trolley passed through Ellington Center on July 1, 1926."
