According to Images of America: Somers, from the Somers Historical Society:

"Olive Louise Chism (1919-1998), well-loved teacher, school principal, author, and poet is shown at a fundraiser tea party. She was raised in Somers at the Gowdy farm by her father's sister, Julia Chism Gowdy, after her mother succumbed to influenza shortly after her birth. This striking image was recorded by Sherry Peters of the Hartford Courant."
