According to Images of America: Ellington, from the Ellington Historical Society:

"This picture was taken at the exercises held at the laying of the cornerstone of the fourth meeting house of the Congregational Church on October 7, 1915. Eighty-nine-year-old Stephen I. Johnson, a masonry expert and member of the church, is showin with the cornerstone. One of the women standing in the group at the right is Mildred Charter."
