The caption in the Images of America: Crystal Lake, Tolland County reads:

"The huge waterslide dominates the beachfront. In the years after George D. Bokis's purchase of Sandy Beach in 1925, the former Lucius Aborn farm was transformed into a thriving resort community. Aborn's daughter, Martha "Mattie" Aborn Skinner, advertised building lots for sale, and cottages with lake views seemed to sprout from the sandy soil."
