A Surf and Turf Dinner, Karaoke Finals, and an Autism Speaks Family Fun Night

All of this can be found in and around Ellington and Somers today, June 17, 2011.

1. According to Weather.com, the forecast for Ellington and Somers calls for scattered thunderstorms with a high of 74 degrees. During the overnight hours, there will be scattered thunderstorms with a low of 62 degrees.

2. in Somersville is holding a Surf and Turf Night. The Knights of Columbus All Saints Council #4303 invite everyone to join them at 6 p.m. for steamed lobster, New York strip streak, potato, salad, rolls, and dessert for $20. Call 860-863-0199 early for tickets.

3. Tonight is the finals of the karaoke competition at in Ellington. The ten singers who made it will have to sing one song of their choice. There will be prizes for the top three competitors. There will also be 12 duets who qualified competing. They will have to sing one song of their choice. There will be prizes for the top three in each category. First place for a solo performance is $600 and is $300 for the duet competition. Second place for solo is $275 and is $150 for the duet competition. 4. An Autism Speaks Family Fun Night will take place at  tonight from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
 Pack your sneakers, swimsuit, and towel and get ready to move  at this event, which is hosted by Star Hill and is an open house for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. 
Activities will include basketball, indoor fields, swimming, drop-in zumba class and a moon bounce.

5. Connecticut's River Valley Garden Tours will be held today from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at in Manchester. Sponsored by the Central Regional Tourism District, Wickham Park is included in the three day event featuring Connecticut’s loveliest gardens. The historical tour is provided by the park director.
