A Lunch and Learn Event, a High School Graduation, and Jewelry Fusing

All of this can be found in and around Ellington and Somers today, June 21, 2011.

1. According to Weather.com, the forecast for Ellington and Somers calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 85 degrees. During the overnight hours, there will be showers and a low of 64 degrees.

2. Today at noon at the , there will be a Lunch and Learn event about enjoying herbs. To attend, RSVP to Anna Turner, Elderly Outreach, at 860-870-3131.

3. Come down to the any Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. for free coffee, donuts and good conversation. It's a great way to start the day, meet friends old and new, catch up on news and more. Donuts are courtesy of the in Hazardville and coffee is by the Senior Citizens' Club. Call the center at 860-763-4379 in advance to be sure they're open, in cases of bad weather, holidays, etc.

4. Tonight at 6 p.m., will award 140 diplomas to graduating seniors. Be sure to check Ellington-Somers Patch tomorrow for full coverage of the graduation ceremony.

5. Stained Glass Creations & Beyond in Stafford is offering Jewelry Fusing Classes. This is a 2-week class offered Tuesdays from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Participants will learn the types of glass used for fusing, the process of fusing, basic cutting/grinding techniques and will complete five pieces. The cost of class is $40 with a $45 materials fee due on the first night of class. Materials fee includes glass, firing and bails. Class fees and materials fees are non-refundable. Class dates are today and June 28. Call 860-851-9689 to book your space.
