Revival Room on a Mission of Health and Wellbeing

Owner Kimberly Newman wants to improve the health and quality of life of those she trains and works with.

The Revival Room Personal Training and Yoga Studio in Ellington is a small space with a lot to offer.

Opened in August 2010, owner Kimberly Newman is on a mission to improve the health and quality of life of those she trains and works with. Offering a variety of classes from Yoga, to Zumba and strength training, the Revival Room also provides one-on-one, couple and group sessions, as well as Reiki. Working with teenagers, seniors and all ages in between, the Revival Room is helping people lose weight, improve flexibility, build strength and endurance, as well as boost their overall mood and health.

Growing up in Ellington, Newman wasn’t always interested in competitive sports, but stayed active with dance, cheerleading, and aerobics. During her first year of college she became very active, picking up running, hiking, kick boxing, practicing yoga, and doing strength training.

Newman realized the importance of not only taking care of your body, but your body, mind and spirit as one. She started helping friends and acquaintances lose weight and become healthier.  After working at a gym in Middlebury, VT and later with trainers in Connecticut, fitness became her true passion.

Newman received her personal training certification through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) and Level 1 Yoga Certification through Yogafit. She then worked at small studio in Suffield, realizing she preferred the small and intimate setting compared to the busy gym.

At the time, she also wanted to go out on her own.

Newman said that she was drawn back to Ellington because she loves the charm of the town and the studio space was a perfect fit.

Through this time, she watched her mom struggle and lose a battle to cancer, affirming her desire and goal in life to help more people get and stay healthy.

While training others, Newman is still training herself as well. Currently, she is working on completing her 200-hour yoga certification at Sacred Rivers in Glastonbury, and just finished her Reiki One certification.

Newman has big plans for the future, which include expanding the studio space, as well as completing her 500-hour yoga certification. She also plans to become certified in yoga therapy, helping those with chronic illnesses.
