KLN Cleaning & Organizing Ready to Declutter Your Life

The new Ellington company offers residential and commercial services.

When the economy got tough, two entrepreneurs got tougher.

After struggling to land jobs in their career fields, Lynne Gola and Kelli Sickles recently founded , an Ellington company that offers commercial and residential cleaning and organizing services.

Gola and Sickles worked for another local cleaning company for the past year, but being frustrated with cleaning for the company they were with, and only making minimum wage, they decided to open our own company.

Gola has a background in medical billing, as well as many years working for companies such as Aetna, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and a local OB/GYN office as their medical biller. When she was laid off, she looked for work in her field and was not receiving any interviews. That is when she started cleaning houses for the other company.

Sickles has an extensive background as an Administrative Assistant as well as a Legal Secretary, having worked for Aetna, Desco Professional Builders, Sack, Spector, Karsten, LLP and Day, Berry & Howard, LLP.

“I started cleaning when Lynne went on vacation last year and needed someone to fill in for her,” she said. “I too could not land an interview within my profession.”

Sickles said that when the women decided to start their own company, they struggled with coming up for a name and decided on KLN Cleaning & Organizing. Sickles said that “K” is for Kelli, “L” for Lynne, and “N” is for Nikki – Sickles’ oldest daughter.

“We thought it worked because it kind of sounds like clean when you put it all together,” she said.

KLN Cleaning & Organizing offers weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and one time cleaning. They also offer professional organizing help and have found that they are getting quite a few calls for that. Commercial cleaning is another service as well as move-in and move-out cleaning for people moving.

The company is insured and bonded through The Hartford Insurance Company, and supplies the cleaning products (all name brand) and uses its vacuum unless the client prefers otherwise – in which the women will discount the price accordingly.

Sickles said that they offer seniors 10 percent off cleanings and have a referral program where if one of the current clients refers a friend, and KLN Cleaning & Organizing actually goes and cleans for them, the company will give the current customer $50 or 50 percent off – depending on the current contract.

KLN Cleaning & Organizing is willing to travel up to 25 miles.

“We are so excited to be doing business in Ellington and the surrounding towns and look forward to helping the community,” Sickles said.

KLN Cleaning & Organizing can be found on FacebookTwitter, and also on the Web site. The company can be reached at 860-888-5153 or 860-558-4816 and klncleanorg@gmail.com.
