Eagle Valley Eco Fuel in Ellington Gets USDA Label for Renewable Products

The labeling means that Eagle Valley's products are verified as having bio-based ingredients.

Ellington-based Eagle Valley Eco Fuel Inc. has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label for its two of its products: the Brickenmore Biomass Fuel Brick and Fire Starters. 

The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label verifies that the products amount of renewable bio-based ingredients meets or exceeds prescribed USDA standards. Bio-based products are goods composed in whole or in significant part of agricultural, forestry, or marine materials.

“Eagle Valley Eco Fuel Inc., home to Brickenmore Products will proudly display the USDA Certified Bio-based Product Label on our biomass products” said Michael Richey, President, Eagle Valley Eco Fuel, Inc. “The label will assure the consumer that Brickenmore Biomass Fuel Bricks and Fire Starters are setting the standards high, with a 100% rating, by producing a truly sustainable heating and fire igniting source. Consumers will be assisting with reducing contaminants and their carbon footprint on the precious earth through the use of Brickenmore products”.

All bio-based amount claims are verified by independent labs and monitored by the USDA. Consumers may feel secure in the accuracy of the bio-based amount and be empowered in making better informed purchasing decisions.

"Bio-based products provide opportunities to help add value to renewable commodities, create jobs in rural communities and generate investment income."

The label is estimated to be on certified products and available for consumers by August 29, 2013.

About USDA BioPreferred

The USDA BioPreferred program was created by the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (2002 Farm Bill), and expanded by the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (2008 Farm Bill). The purpose is to increase the purchase and use of biobased products. The United States Department of Agriculture manages the program. Products that meet the USDA BioPreferred program requirements carry a distinctive label for easier identification by the consumer.
