[Photo Gallery] Gingerbread Houses at the South Windsor's Wood Memorial Library

The Gingerbread House Festival will have around 200 entries - from all over the state - when all is said and done.

The myriad gingerbread houses on display at the Wood Memorial Library & Museum in South Windsor came in different sizes, quality, theme and ingredients.

But they all had one thing in common - they all looked delicious.

Indeed, the colorful confectionery buildings comprise candy, cookies, sugared cereal, frosting and even Munchkins.

It was all too much for a Candy Ninja to keep his hands off them.

Not that they are completely untouchable. Many of the gingerbread houses, which are on display through Dec. 14, are available via a silent auction and will go to the highest bidder. Proceeds of the auction will go to the library to defray operating costs.

Festival director Bonnie Grover said that the gingerbread house festival, now in its second year, is already an unmitigated success, as she said she hoped to have 100 gingerbread houses this year. The library has about 175 right now, with another 20 on the way, Grover said.

“It’s become a cult favorite in South Windsor,” Grover said.

Check out the photos of some of the entries.
