Stuff the Bus for Ellington Rescue Post 512

The event will be held in front of Ellington High School, and the food that is received will go to the Hockanum Valley Community Council Food Pantry.

Rescue Post 512, the explorer division of the Ellington Volunteer Ambulance Corps, will be holding a Stuff the Bus event on May 11.

It will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in front of Ellington High School. In this case, the "bus" - an ambulance - will be stuffed with cans of food or nonperishable items.

Everything that is received will be given to the Hockanum Valley Community Council Food Pantry in Vernon. The pantry serves residents in Vernon, Ellington, and Tolland.

Megan Chamberland, a Rescue Post 512 member, said that the post decided to do the Stuff the Bus because many food pantries run out of food during the non-holiday months.

"Hockanum is  low on nonperishable foods and this event would be a perfect opportunity to help refill their pantry," she said.
