Remembering Irma Schmidt: Connecticut's Oldest Voter and Tolland Resident Dies

Schmidt cast her first vote in 1920 and continued to vote consistently in every major November election, according to the Hartford Courant.

Tolland, and the state of Connecticut, lost a faithful civic participant and a much-loved citizen last week when Irma Schmidt passed away at the age of 112 on July 25, according to her obituary.

Schmidt, the oldest living resident of the state, was a resident of the Woodlake at Tolland Nursing & Rehabilitation, according to a story in the Hartford Courant.

The newspaper reported that Schmidt had voted in every major November election since 1920 and was believed to be the oldest active voting resident in Connecticut.
