Nicholas Coleman to be Remembered in One Year Memorial Ceremony

The Somers teen passed away on Oct. 11, 2012, in a car accident at the age of 17.

It's been almost a year since Nicholas Coleman passed away following a one-car accident in East Longmeadow, Mass.

Now, the family will remember the late 17-year-old Somers High School student — exactly one year following the date of his passing.

The family will gather at the Soapstone Mountain State Forest parking lot in Somers at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, according to a post on the Facebook Page "Remembering Nick Coleman."

The ceremony will be happening at the top of the mountain, and those who attend can choose to run or walk the trail, or drive to the top of the mountain, the post read.

"There, we will ask anyone who wishes to share a memory, a story, a poem, prayer or picture — whatever you would like. And we will take some time for quiet reflection." according to the post, which was written by Nicholas' mother, Linda Coleman.

Coleman was remembered last year as a likable, funny guy who had was well-known in the Somers High School community and who had a lot of friends. Hundreds showed up for his funeral last year.

Linda Coleman expressed her gratitude in the Facebook post to the community for how grateful her family has been of all the support from the past year.

"Each day can be so hard to walk through, but we have done it — not always gracefully — but done it none-the-less because of all of you," she wrote.
