Enfield Amvets Donating Turkeys to Somers Church

The Amvets Post 18 is continuing its annual tradition.

The Amvets Post 18 based out of Enfield will once again be donating turkeys to a Somers Congregational Church food pantry.

The Amvets will be donating 15 turkeys to Champ's Place, the name of the church's food pantry, as well as 13 other turkeys to the veterans of the Mark Twain Living Center in Enfield, according to a press release from Commander Bryan H. Dusty.

The donation will be happening Monday Nov. 25. The group will also be donating to other veterans in both towns.

Dusty said many of the funds raised for the turkeys were through the White Clover Fundraiser at Gieslers in Somers, where the turkeys were purchased. This has been an ongoing tradition for the Amvets.

"It is the Enfield Amvets Post 18's goal to assist veterans in our area any way we can as well as other organizations in need of assistance," Dusty said. "We would like to thank all those that have donated to Enfield Amvets Post 18 helping us help veterans and others in our area."
