According to Images of America: Ellington, from the Ellington Historical Society:

"A new laboratory at Westbrook Farm on West Road, built to conduct feed research for two large farmers' organizations, is pictured here on July 15, 1939. It was part of the thriving research farm south of the present location of Meadowview Plaza and Lee's Auto Ranch."
