Ellington Farmers' Market Has Something For Everyone

There is food, entertainment, crafts, and more at this weekly event in Arbor Park.

If you are looking for locally grown and produced food items, crafts, or other handmade items, the Ellington Farmers' Market is the place to go.

The market, which began in 2005 at and moved to its current location in 2006, runs from May to October and takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The Farmers' Market was started to promote local agriculture and give growers a venue to sell their products, and continues to add vendors.

At the market, you can buy fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy (both cow and goat) products, organic beef, jams, preserves, relishes, maple syrup, plants and herbs.

The market also hosts two bakeries and has locally handcrafted items such as soaps, ceramics, wood crafts, fabric crafts, locally roasted coffee, alpaca products, and paper crafts.

New this year are special event days, which begin with Dog Day on June 4. The Sadie Mae Foundation and the Meriden Human Society, who will be bringing animals available for adoption, will be at the market this day. There will also be a demonstration by the State Police canine unit.

Every week, there is live musical entertainment. On June 18, a professional blue grass band, The Grass Roots Band, will be preforming.
