Scenes From the 2012 New England Regional Chili Cook Off

About 50 cooks expected at Sunday's festivities.

If you didn't make it to the grounds of in Somers yesterday, there's still plenty of time to enjoy this year's New England Regional Chili Cook Off. It begins again today at 11 a.m. and will run to 4:30 p.m.

More than 10,000 visitors are expected again today, with proceeds benefitting the and the Patriot Guard Riders of Connecticut. The cost of admission is $6 and two canned goods, or $7 without the canned goods, which entitles you to a tasting kit, so you can sample all the chilis and place your votes. Admission is free for “kids” over 70 and under five.

Approximately 50 chili cooks are expected today, including world championship winners from across the country. There is also a Salsa Challenge and a youth division. T-shirts of the event, designed by Somers' own Ally Norton, a student, are also being sold. In addition to the great food, there will be a number of vendors, children's entertainment, music, clowns, face painting, raffles, contests and more.
