YMCA PRESENTS ANNUAL AWARD T0 AREA RESIDENTS

Ellington- More than 100 guests and community leaders attended the Indian Valley Family YMCA’s Annual Meeting, which recognized the leading 2013-14 partners, volunteers, donors and staff who helped advance the Y’s cause to strengthen the foundation of our community. The June 12 event had the theme of  “Living Our Cause” . Amid the evening of celebration, story sharing and official business,  the YMCA staff and Volunteer Board of Advisors presented the following awards:

  • Leader of the Year –Sarah Whelan of Ellington
  • Community Partner of the Year-Ellington High School, Vocational Program
  • Volunteer of the Year- Sharon Timins of South Windsor
  • Member of the Year-Jennifer Couture of Broad Brook
  • Impact Champions of the Year  - YMCA LiveSTRONG Coaches: Laura Kratochvil of Andover, Kendra Slack of Tolland, Nicole Oliva of Ellington and Jesse Flaherty of Ellington.

The Indian Valley Family YMCA is one of 12 branches of The YMCA of Greater Hartford, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization which served more than 95,000 people in 33 towns of the Capital Region in 2013. The Indian Valley Family YMCA serves children, adults and families in the towns of East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, Rockville, Somers, South Windsor, Tolland, Willington, and Vernon. In addition to the two child care centers, the Y has a full membership facility in Ellington.
