Somers Rotary Goes International

Somers CT: Recently 6 members of the Somers Rotary Club traveled to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, to view and assess a water pollution control project the Puerto Plata Rotary Club has initiated.  Using bio-sand filtration systems, the highly contaminated water which is prevalent through the Dominican Republic can be run through this system and is purified to safe drinking water.

After observing and participating in the installation of two filtration systems, Somers Club President Rick Cheney presented Moisés Rodriguez with a $2,000 check from the Somers Club in support of the Puerto Plata project.
