Choreographers' Showcase: Dynamic Dance by NY and Hartford Choreographers

On Friday, October 25, 2013, students from CREC’s Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts will perform alongside professional guest choreographers in Choreographers’ Showcase. Now in its 10th year, Choreographers’ Showcase is a rare opportunity for high school dancers to learn and perform with critically acclaimed choreographers in the field. This showcase brings NYC and Hartford choreographers and their most recent works to a beautiful venue at the Learning Corridor's Main Stage Theater right here in Hartford.

This year’s stunning line up of performances includes two works recently premiered in NYC to high acclaim by the New York Times. On Blast, with physically daring partnering, by Gregory Dolbashian, an on-the-rise contemporary choreographer and director of NYC’s The Dash Ensemble, and an excerpt from 4, Hip Hop to Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, by Jennifer Weber, director of Brooklyn’s internationally touring company, Decadancetheatre.

Also on the program: debate, a story about the struggle for power and place by Hartford’s own Deborah Goffe, director of Scapegoat Garden, and On this edge of oscillations, a physical and emotional precipice by Leslie Frye Maietta, dancer with Scapegoat Garden.

Choreographers’ Showcase is a rare opportunity to see cutting edge choreographers you normally need to travel to New York or Jacob's Pillow to see” explained Judi Tolomea, Director of Choreographers’ Showcase.
