Both Ellington and Somers are  prepared to open their emergency shelters if need be. Ellington First Selectman Maurice Blanchette says that according to all predictions, the storm doesn't appear to be bringing the kind of weather that will result in downed power lines. The loss of power would be the biggest factor in opening the shelters he said.

Somers First Selectwoman Lisa Pellegrini said that if anyone sees downed power lines, they are to call 911 to report it.

Pellegrini is encouraging residents to stay off the roads if possible and allow the  to do their job.
