Community Update

Hi Friends of Somers!
Tonight I attended my first BOS Board of Selectmen meeting in over a year. The reason it has been so long is that the selectmen changed the time of the meeting from 7:00 PM to 6:00 PM every other Thurs. when, as your current Tax Collector, I have to keep my office open until 7:00 PM. I had to take an hour of my comp time to attend, but others who work at the town hall and live in Somers NEVER have the opportunity to attend. The "Special" meetings they hold are at 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM or 3:00 PM when no working person can attend and quite a few important decisions are made at these"unattendable"meetings like ending the summer camp. Is this transparency?
