Ellington High School Open House, Varsity Volleyball Game, Multi-Family Tag Sale

Five things to know on this 18th of September in Ellington and Somers.

Good morning Ellington and Somers! Here are a few things to start your day off today.

  1. Ellington High School will be hosting an open house on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6:45 - 9 p.m. Parents/guardians will have an opportunity to visit each class for a brief overview of the course objectives, student expectations, and grading policies. See more on the district's website.

  2. Varsity girls volleyball will be facing off against Lewis S. Mills High School today at 5:15 p.m. at Ellington High School. Details here.

  3. A group of residents on Hickory Hill Road in Somers is holding a multi-family tag sale this Saturday, Sept. 21, at 8 a.m. Check this event posting for more details.

  4. Tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 19, is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Yes, I know you had it marked on your calendars. One local business, Tell Me a Story in Enfield, is celebrating the occasion with the release of a new kids book, Nearly Honorable League of Pirates: Magic Marks the Spot, and a 15 percent off discount for all things pirate in the store.   5. WEATHER: A high of 73 degrees, dipping back down to 44 tonight, followed by a hike up to a high of 77 degrees tomorrow and back down to 51 at night.
