Somers Baseball Opens Season With a Win

Nate Czelazewicz led the way on the mound and at the plate for the Spartans.

The baseball team opened the season with an 18-8 victory over host East Granby.

Nate Czelazewicz pitched five innings, allowing two runs, four hits, and notching five strikeouts. 

Czelazewicz also led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and six runs driven in.

Mike Casciano went 4-for-6 with three runs scored, Austin Ficara was 2-for-4 with four runs scored and three stolen bases, and Kevin Roberts was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two runs driven in. 

Somers tallied 16 hits on the day.

The Spartans host Canton on Thursday.
