On Monday, the inmate who attacked Northern Correctional Institution corrections officer Peter Kuhlmann pled guilty and will be receiving fifteen years consecutive to his current sentence.

Robin Elliott, 58, was already incarcerated for first degree unlawful restraint and was serving a sentence that carried a maximum of 70 years. He had an estimated release date of March 3, 2047 and a maximum release date of May 16, 2061.

In December 2009, Kuhlmann was attacked by Elliott who was allegedly "having a bad day." Kuhlmann had his throat slashed and was helped by the quick thinking and actions of fellow corrections officer Michael Whitehead.

In November 2010, Whitehead was awarded with the Connecticut Department of Corrections Medal of Valor.
