According to Images of America: Ellington, from the Ellington Historical Society:

"The Rev. John McKinstry was the first minister of the Ellington Congregational Church. Born in Ireland to Scotch parents in 1677, he became pastor of the church in 1733. There were only eleven families, and the town was still part of ancient Windsor. This 1730 gambrel-roofed house may have been his. It was moved to Maple Street in 1815 from its original location on the north side of Main Street near the corner of Tomoka Avenue."
